In the evening when things are still,
In the evening when I say my prayers,
I stop and look about,
Think of all that
I am thankful for.

As the shadows do long grow,
And as a stillness pervades the air,
As the sun sinks in the west,
I do give thanks for what I have.

A long life I have led,
A good woman by my side,
Good health and
Lots of work and some luck.

So as the darkness grows
I feel I am
A very lucky man.
