~ Connections ~
By Doreen Hampshire (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Once I flew around the world
and had many planes to catch
Many connections to here and there
Each one of them had to match
So here I was in Sinapore
Waiting for my transport
Well it turmed up really late
I started getting reall fraught
"Sorry no seats left" we were told
It was our first connection
We were going to Australia
It just felt like rejection
Well it all turned out OK
For alack and alas
All due to a late connection
Got an upgrade to buisness class
On an old college building, ivy grows in connection By susi Taylor (Texaswishr@aol.com)
Around the windows and around the doors
The bricks so old, it needs tactile protection
It climbs and weaves growing more and more
On an old church building, the bricks are covered
From the foundation up to the eaves
The belfry tower bells sound lowered
Covered by these ivy leaves
Each leave connected to the other, tangled in a vine
Clinging to the sides of walls
They start as tiny tendrils that branch into a line
And in the evening you can hear the nightbirds call
It pays to have a connection By Norma (Twi1ite@sbcglobal.net)
When your down and feel rejection,
When electronics have you buffalo-ed,
And your confidence is blown.
A string of ideas like beads in a pod,
My cache needed emptied, I gave a nod,
"What in the world does she mean by that,"
"Help me my son" He came and sat.
Still smiling from his noonday feast,
(It pays always to feed the beast)
He punched this and that for a quarter hour or so,
Then announced he had to go.
He'd left boiling water on the kitchen stove,
To make after lunch tea, yes he had to go,
Still he'd made that all needed connection,
Yes, it pays to have a connection.
For when he was gone, I tried this thing again,
(Getting so obsessed is surely a sin),
It's working like a champ, and I'm afraid to breathe,
So I'll loosen this connection and have some of that tea.

You're bossy and you’re fussy; By Sandy Lee (email@example.com)
You're quiet and you’re shy
Do you realize how different
We are, you and I?
You are so worldly
All traveled and schooled
You're homeless, forsaken
Or wealthy and jeweled.
You've got a big family
And an old mongrel cat
You’re short or you’re tall
You are bony or fat...
You live up on a hilltop
Love sushi bar
I cannot see me
In the who that you are.
I see through my own eyes,
And don't look to near
I'm different, I'm me
Without copy, or peer.
But we share a world
And we both see the light
We fear or rejoice
At the coming of night
We walk and we talk
And we stumble and fall
And we heed or ignore
Our dear Master's call.
We smile and we frown
We grow and we age
We share a connection
We're on the same page
We are human and frail
We achieve or we try
Do you realize we're one?
So alike, you and I!

So many folks I know, have known, have connections By Tom (tomWYO@aol.com)
can get a better deal, wide selection
friend or relative, works with, who knows
seem they always know it so
“An in”, a connection, no, not an election
looks to me to breed imperfection
walk into the perfect deal, no appeal
for from the connection what a steal?
Once cheated, twice burned, is no fun
but from the big deal, seems it has begun
excuses and shoddy work, not a quirk
heavy fingers the coy clerk
Me I have no connections or dubious ins
just go to a good store, pay the price, no sin
check around for who does good work
do the job and does not shirk
If you have a connection that can and will
get prices below wholesale, a steal
you just go ahead and deal
me, I will do it my way, no steal, no great deal.
