Just over the hills on a hot muggy day,
Daddy, did you rise up, your spirit to play,
Did you look for me to come on this your day?
Did I fail you?

Did you call Mother and Sister and talk,
Three of you on benches by the cemetery walk?
No, you know you fill my heart,
And I didnít fail you.

This morning you sang Amazing Grace,
Sat by me at church with your shining face,
Listened to the preacher honor all the fathers,
Who deserve their reward.

You are always with me,
As you smile down on me now,
Looking at me from your picture
With following, smiling eyes.

You loved, yes you worked,
And did your duty, but you loved,
And your love enfolds my shoulders,
Happy Fatherís Day, Daddy.
